At Trendy Hair, we want you to be fully satisfied with your purchase. That’s why we offer returns and exchanges within 180 days of your order date — as long as the product has not been opened, worn, or altered in any way.

We know matching hair colour online can be tricky. That’s why most of our Clip-In, Halo, and Ponytail extensions come with a tester piece, located in the top or bottom compartment of the packaging.

Use the tester to check for a colour match without opening the full set.

If the colour isn’t right, you can return or exchange the set — as long as both the full set and tester piece are returned in unused, original condition.

Important: Please do not cut, dye, straighten, curl, wash, or tone the tester piece. If the tester or product has been tampered with, the return or exchange will not be accepted.

Once your return is received and approved:

You may choose a refund, exchange, or store credit.

Refunds will exclude original shipping costs.

Exchanges require a standard $8 NZD shipping fee.

For orders placed using Afterpay or other Pay Later services, a 5% restocking fee applies. Refunds for these services usually take 3–5 business days, though it may take up to 7 business days depending on your financial provider.

Return shipping is the customer’s responsibility.

If you are requesting a refund, we will deduct our original shipping cost from your total refund amount.

If you are requesting an exchange, you will need to pay the $8 NZD exchange shipping fee.

If your order arrives damaged, faulty, or incorrect, please notify us and return the product for inspection.

If the product is found to be defective or not up to our quality standards, we will cover the cost of return shipping and send a replacement at no extra cost.

If you opt for a refund instead, it will be processed within 3–5 business days once we receive the returned item.

If the item is found to be in good condition, we cannot offer a refund or exchange due to hygiene reasons. Additionally, return shipping costs will not be reimbursed unless the item was genuinely faulty.

Yes, we do recommend only people with some experience in hairdressing take advantage of our training courses. A basic understanding of hair fundamentals is important to get the most out of these courses. 

With the right maintenance, a human hair system from Trendy Hair can typically last anywhere from six months to a year. If the adhesive starts to loosen over time, the system can be professionally reattached to keep it secure and looking natural.

You’re free to use styling gels, waxes, or creams to shape and hold your hairstyle as desired. If you’re using heavier products like strong waxes or oil-based stylers, Trendy Hair recommends thoroughly rinsing your hair system during washing to avoid product buildup and maintain its quality.

Trendy Hair’s human hair systems can be safely toned or darkened if needed. However, we strongly advise against bleaching or adding highlights. Because the hair has already undergone processing, it doesn't respond to lightening treatments the same way natural hair does—and attempting to bleach it could lead to permanent damage.

Over time, a hair system may experience some natural fading, but this is typically very minimal and not easily noticeable. Prolonged exposure to strong sunlight or contact with saltwater—such as from swimming in the ocean or using shampoos with high salt content—can speed up the fading process. To help preserve the color, Trendy Hair recommends using a gentle, sulphate-free shampoo.

If any fading does occur, the hair can be safely recolored. However, we advise against using bleach, as it can damage the hair fibres.

To keep your hair system looking and feeling its best, we recommend visiting the salon every 4 to 6 weeks. During this maintenance appointment, the system is gently removed, any adhesive residue is cleaned off, the natural hair underneath is tidied up, and the system is securely reapplied.

If you're using tape to hold your system in place, you may be able to manage the maintenance process at home with the right tools and guidance from Trendy Hair.

In most cases, yes — shaving the area where the system will be applied allows for the most secure and natural-looking result. That said, if you're unsure or just exploring the idea, there are alternative options available.

If you're after a topper that delivers maximum realism, styling freedom, and long-term wear, Trendy Hair recommends choosing human hair. It blends beautifully with your natural hair and is perfect for daily use.

While synthetic toppers are still a great option and made with quality fibres, they require a bit more care when washing and styling, and they don’t last as long as human hair alternatives.

To keep your Trendy Hair topper in great condition, we recommend using shampoo and conditioner that are free from sulphates and parabens.

1. Fill a basin or sink with lukewarm water.

2. Add about two pumps of gentle shampoo into the water and stir to create a soapy mix.

3. Submerge your hair topper into the water.

4. Let it soak for about 3 to 5 minutes, then gently move it around in the water for another minute to loosen any buildup.

5. Rinse the topper thoroughly with clean lukewarm water.

6. Apply conditioner starting from the ends of the hair and gently work your way up toward the base using your fingers or a wide-tooth comb.

7. Rinse out the conditioner carefully.

You can either let the topper air dry naturally (preferably overnight) or place it under a warm dryer until fully dry.

At Trendy Hair, all of our extensions are made from 100% Remy human hair. However, they do require special care and should not be washed the same way you would wash your natural hair.

(like Clip-In and Halo styles) only need to be washed after approximately 15 to 20 uses. Since they’re not attached to your scalp, they don’t absorb natural oils and stay cleaner for longer.
